Ahhhh, superbowl. In Australia, I don’t really know anyone who gives any kind of damn when it comes to the sporting side of this ridiculously popular televised event. Indeed, I have no idea who is playing, nor do I really care. The most interesting thing, I find, to come out of the Super Bowl is the advertisements. Companies spend millions of dollars on these every year, and consequently the advertisements played during the Super Bowl have become an attraction in their own right. Because Australia is hours ahead of the U.S., I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see 2013’s best advertisements. Until then I have the joy of watching and laughing at some of the old ones. My personal favourite is the Ferris Bueller spoof – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off being one of the school approved movies on rotation for rainy days during my middle schooling years.
As an extra, if you find the Super Bowl…errrr, well, totally pointless, this is for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vfd5_co80-s
I’ve lost count as to how many times I’ve watched that. Nailed it.
