June 30 – Log Cabin Day

Standard

Log Cabin Day encourages us to take a step outside our comfort zones and experience a simpler existence. Surround yourself with nature and embrace a week away from phones, computers and  the stressful business of modern life. I love camping and I love being in what feels like the middle of nowhere. But I will not stay in a log cabin. Why? There must exist literally hundreds of movies where someone gets murdered in the cabin in the woods. Or someone is kidnapped and held hostage in a cabin in the woods. Or supernatural happenings occur in a cabin in the woods. Or people get trapped in a cabin in the woods by natural forces. I don’t know a single movie where those situations occur when adventurers are staying in a tent. Despite a lack of any reasonable security at all, I feel I will always feel safest in a tent rather than a cabin.
