Happy National Doll Day? Dolls are…more often then not, quite creepy. However real dolls don’t have anything on people who try and transform themselves to look like dolls. I give you Valeria Lukyanova, a young woman from Ukraine that undergoes a radical transformation every time she leaves the house in order to look like the plastic doll, Barbie. There’s a lot of different “information” floating around about her – some sources say he spent upwards of half a million dollars on plastic surgery, others say she only ever had breast implants once and that’s it while others claim she only applies a ridiculous amount of make up and has no once gone under the knife. Regardless of how she has achieved this, it is undeniably a little strange to look at:
There’s also a real life Ken. Justin Jedica is most certainly a product of plastic surgery, undergoing 90 procedures to look very, very frightening indeed. He poses below with Valeria. While chasing the ideal image, these doll-like humans have turned themselves into something that I’m sure most of the world finds very unsettling and unattractive. Valeria defends herself by saying “Many people say bad things about people who want to perfect themselves … but I don’t take them seriously. I’m even flattered! It’s what success is like. I’m happy I seem unreal to them, it means I’m doing a good job … I always try to perfect myself further both inside and out, because I think perfection has no limits.”. Bonus: This is her website, apparently. I can’t read any of it, because it is not in english, but the opening video is something that really just has to be seen to be believed.
